Nationwide Search Launched For New Executive Director.

The Springfield Housing Authority (SHA), the largest property owner in the region with over 2,300 housing units spread over 27 separate sites, has launched a nationwide search for a new executive director. At their September 20th meeting, The Board of Commissioners appointed a search committee to define the job description, advertise, screen applicants, and make recommendations to the Board.

Executive Director Elizabeth McCright, who joined the SHA in 2004, announced her resignation in August after accepting a position as Chief Operating Officer of the Chattanooga, TN Housing Authority. Alex Corrales, Assistant Executive Director under Ms. McCright, is now serving as Interim Director.

SHA, with an annual budget of $33.5 million, has committed itself to becoming a stronger partner to the City of Springfield in the effort to enhance the local quality of life and improve the area's economy. To that end, the organization recently announced close to $1 million in new funding for resident age in place and self-sufficiency programming along with an additional $6 million commitment to the City's "Housing First" initiative over the next ten years. SHA serves nearly 5,000 residents.
